Frequently asked questions
You can collect up to 600 ummadum points (UP) per day. Once you have reached your daily limit, you must wait for the following day for your daily limit to reset.
Please make sure to end your activity at the destination if it does not end automatically. If you do not reach the destination, the activity can only be cancelled, as we want to make sure that you have really achieved the CO2 savings.
With ummadum you can choose between four different activities:
- On foot
- Cycling/scooter
- Public transport
- Ride sharing
Communities can specify which type of activities are rewarded with ummadum points (UP). This shows you which activities are rewarded:
- Open the ummadum app
- Tap on the trophy icon (challenges) in the top right-hand corner of the dashboard
This will take you to an overview of all your benefits. There is a box for each challenge to collect UP. Icons for all rewarded activity types are shown on the right-hand side. When each activity type is rewarded, a pedestrian, a cyclist, a bus for public transport and a car for ride-sharing are shown.
To see which activity types are counted for challenges, scroll down to the “Challenges” section and tap “View challenge”. This will take you to the challenge description. The lightning bolt symbol lists all the activity types counted for the challenge.
To access the overview of all your past activities, carry out the following steps:
- Open the ummadum app
- Tap on “Profile” in the bottom bar
- Tap on “Past activities” in the menu
Here you will find a history of all your past activities. A distinction is made here between “Finished activities” and “All activities”. Completed activities are all activities for which you have successfully completed. In “All activities” you will find all activities, including those that were cancelled.
If you have had problems with an activity, you can easily access it here and contact Customer Support:
Depending on what you expect to gain from your eco-friendly activity as a reward, there are various points you may need to consider when undertaking your first activity. Here's a quick checklist to help you make sure you're benefiting from your activity:
- Is the type of activity I am doing rewarded by the community?
- Do I still have enough ummadum points to collect?
- Do I need to start or finish the activity at the community location to collect ummadum points or activities for challenges?
- Have I already reached my daily limit of ummadum points to collect?
- Have I already reached my daily limit of activities (challenges) to collect?
Can the ummadum app use my GPS data to track my activity? - Can the ummadum app be active in the background while I'm doing an activity if I open another app in the meantime?
If you're having trouble checking any of the points, please feel free to email us at
You can save these destinations as favourites so that you don't always have to re-enter certain destinations that you travel to regularly. Simply carry out the following steps:
- Open the ummadum app
- Select an activity
- Tap on the “Enter destination address” search field
- Tap on the “Favourites - Add location” field
- Tap on “Add new location”
- Enter the name and address of your destination
- Tap on “Save location” at the bottom
The next time you start an activity and select the destination, simply tap on the “Enter destination address” search field again. Your favourites will now appear at the top of the list.
Assuming you have received 450 UP for a journey on one day and only 150 UP for the return journey for the same distance: why is that?
This is because you have reached your daily limit of 600 UP with your return journey, and the 150 UP are the remaining points available to you for that day.
450 UP +
150 UP
600 UP
Wait for the next day until your daily limit resets.
If you were only able to cancel your activity and not complete it successfully, the following reasons may be the cause:
- You are not at your specified destination.
- Your GPS has signal problems, which is why the ummadum app cannot determine whether you are already at your destination.
If the above points do not apply to your activity, you are welcome to email us to
Generally, activities cannot be subsequently rewarded with ummadum points if they have been completed or cancelled without points. The reason for this is that each activity is evaluated live by the system and can therefore no longer be changed.
It is important that the app is active during the entire activity and that there is a stable GPS connection. This is the only way for the ummadum app to record your activity correctly.
If you experience any problems during your activity, you are welcome to email us to
With the "End your activity automatically" function, the ummadum app recognises when you are at your destination and ends your activity automatically. This has the advantage that you no longer have to open the ummadum app and manually tap on "End activity" when you arrive at your destination.
The ummadum app will ask you to end your activities automatically when you download it for the first time. To do this, you will be asked to go to the app settings:
- Tap on “Go to app settings”
- Tap on “Permissions”
- Then tap on “Location”
- Select the option “Always”
- Now you can simply tap on the back button again until you get back to the ummadum app.
If you have not reached your destination for various reasons, the ummadum app automatically cancels the activity 2 hours after the pre-calculated destination has been reached in order to avoid unnecessary retrieval of the location.
If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to email us to
If you have accidentally entered an incorrect activity, for example you entered an activity on foot but then cycled, there is no need to worry. This can happen. Please send a short email to our customer support team:
If you are asked for feedback by the ummadum app after completing an activity, there may be various reasons for this:
- Your mobile phone is sending inaccurate GPS data, making it difficult for the ummadum app to track your activity.
- You have chosen a different route for a public transport activity.
- As the driver of a ride-sharing activity, you didn't drop off the passenger at the drop-off point
If you receive an error message that no connection could be found when trying to carry out an activity using public transport, one possible reason may be that the nearest stop is too far away from you.
