Frequently asked questions
The driver and passenger can contact each other in the app by phone or text message. For security reasons and to protect the privacy of our users, this is only possible for a limited period of time before, during and after the journey.
At ummadum, anyone can ride with anyone. Regardless of whether they work in different companies or live in different municipalities. The only decisive factor is whether part of their route overlaps.
For optimal matching, we take into account the date and time and whether the start and destination addresses are within a radius of 3 kilometres.
Approximately 1 hour before the ride starts, the carpool members receive a push message as a reminder of the upcoming ride. As soon as the ride is started by the driver, the carpool members will be notified.
If you have shared your location, you can also see each other on the map.
As a member of the nahallo community, you will receive 50 ummadum points (equivalent to EUR 0.50) as a reward for shared journeys, even if there are no passengers.
To receive the reward, your journey must start or end at a P+R facility at Wiener Neustadt or Korneuburg station. In addition, the journey must be booked online at least 12 hours before the start of the journey. Please note that the journey offer is binding, and you will not receive a reward if you cancel. The issue of this reward is limited on a daily and weekly basis. There is no entitlement to receive the reward.

Ridesharing, also known as carpooling, is an activity in which you team up with other people to share a journey together. You can either offer your free seats in the car as a driver or share a journey with someone else as a passenger. You can easily find a lift in the ummadum app by selecting the "Ridesharing" activity and searching for available journeys. You will be shown drivers who can take you to your destination or cover part of your route.

In addition to the existing insurance policies of the drivers, ummadum carpools in Austria are additionally insured free of charge with the VAV insurance in the event of permanent disability up to 100,000 euros and in the event of death up to 10,000 euros per person. The insurance conditions of VAV apply. It applies equally to drivers and passengers and only covers personal injury. The prerequisite for this is that the app has access to your GPS data for the entire duration of the shared journey.
If a user behaves inappropriately in your eyes (e.g. by using a criminal display image or inappropriate behaviour etc.), you can report them by clicking on the profile picture of the user you wish to report. Go to the three-dot menu at the top right and click on Report user.
PLEASE NOTE: Reporting a user is only for the protection of other users and should only be done in the case of inappropriate behaviour. The star system can be used to rate the driving performance or other aspects of carpooling.
